40. Buy used. It’s that simple there are always great deals in used goods. Every thing from washer and dryers to cars can be bought at a fraction of the price. Shop around and compare. I stopped buying DVDs from the stores, I just go to our local pawn shops and buy them for about 3 bucks a piece. Most are in great to mint condition. If your worried about quality just look at the item before you buy and/or bring some one along who knows a bit about what ever your buying. 41. Trade items. Remember, you don’t always need
cash to get what you want. Neighbor has something you want and you have
something she wants. Trade! Make a deal, maybe some cash might be involved to
even it out but every dollar saved helps. Also don’t forget about local
classifieds. You can post items online for free most of the time. 42. Credit monitoring. I use and get monthly updates on all 3 reporting agencies and I can get a change report once a day. This does cost about 15 dollars a month, but remember you get 3 free credit reports a year. Use these to see if your credit is improving. If your credit has improved look to refinance, getting better rates can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars a year. Also monitoring your credit can help you see the progress you make in your life if you have debt. Lastly you can keep identity theft at bay. If you ever suffer a case of ID theft it will take you a long time to recover and under mind all your hard work.k |
43. Don’t let them up sale you. A sales persons job is to get you to buy something, if you agree to that then their job is to get you to upgrade. It has happened to all of us, you go in set on what you want and bam next thing you know you got the model above what you wanted and look there you spent more then you planned to. Put your foot down early and stick to your guns. 44. Bring your calculator. Another shopping tip,
when you’re shopping take your calculator. Figure out what the best price is.
Divide the ounces or quantity by the price. It’s a little work until can bee
worth it. After a while you will just know what the best deal is, well unless
the price changes. 45.Grow a bit of food. You may not have the space
or time for a large garden but just growing a few things from seeds can do
wonders. Often people are giving away the stuff they grow because the plants
are over producing. Imagine canning or freezing some of the food you grew. Also
talk to some of your neighbors they may be willing to split the cost and work
of a small garden. 46. Clothe napkins and towels. Paper towels and napkins are
costly and cause a lot of waste. Do yourself and the environment a favor and use
cloth. 47. Use the classic vinegar and baking soda cleaning solution. This classic is a tried and true way to clean. Add any fresh squeezed citrus to take the bite out of the vinegar smell. |
48. Another laundry tip. When drying a load of
clothes add a dry, clean towel. The dry towel helps absorb the moister,
improves the tumble effect if the load isn’t full, and cuts the drying time
over all. Also try setting your dryer for a few minutes less, cutting a few
minutes off every load will save you money over all not to mention time. Lastly
use a drying rack or clothesline. Using a drying rack over a vent in the winter
can also help add moister to the dry air. If you don’t like the way your
clothes feel from drying on the clothes line, remember you have a air dry
setting on your dryer, throw your clothes in there for a few minutes with a
dryer sheet. 49.Ask for what you want. Believe it or not when it comes to gift giving most people have no idea what any one wants. So if you have a birthday, Christmas, or some other special event that you will be getting a gift have a list. Ask for gift cards for stores you frequent. I say get a few groceries on that card or they give you some un-wanted gift and you just add clutter. People love giving gifts you use a lot, so if you need some canning jars, a glass set, or some other simple item put it on your list and get what you can actually use. 50.Give old items second life. There are so many thing you can dowith old items before you throw them away. I just read a article about four ways to get second life out of a shower curtain. Before you pitch something think and maybe do a little research, remember the internet is a huge resource of people sharing information. |
